Israel Mireles, who was arrested in Mexico just across the border from Texas in the murder of a Kansas college coed who led a double life as an Internet porn star has made his first court appearance.
Mireles, who was arrested in December 2007 in Melchor Muzquiz, Mexico, about five miles southwest of Del Rio, is charged with capital murder, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy in the 2007 death of Emily Sander, 18.
Prosecutors asked for high bond and told the court that while Mireles was in jail in Mexico City, he told a friend he had planned an escape by faking a serious illness and then escaping when he was taken to a hospital.
Sander's disappearance drew nationwide attention after the discovery that the Butler, Kan. Community College student was also an Internet pornography model who went by the name Zoey Zane.
She was last seen alive on Nov. 23, 2007 as she left an El Dorado bar with a man police have identified as Mireles.
A car rented by Mireles later turned up in Vernon, Texas, where he has relatives.

Apple Inc. said it removed a program from its iPhone store yesterday because the developer added pictures of topless women, violating the company's policy against "offensive content."
"Apple will not distribute applications that contain inappropriate content," said Tom Neumayr, a spokesman for the company. "The developer of this application added inappropriate content directly from their server after the application had been approved and distributed, and after the developer had subsequently been asked to remove some offensive content."
The $2 program, called Hottest Girls, was created by Allen Leung. He didn't immediately return an e-mail seeking comment. His Web site no longer contains information about the application.
Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs announced the iPhone App Store in March 2008, saying the company would impose restrictions on the types of programs distributed. Prohibited programs include "porn, malicious apps, apps that invade your privacy," he said at the time.
The App Store, which opened in July 2008, offers more than 50,000 programs that run on the iPhone and Apple's iPod Touch media player. The company gets a 30 percent cut of each application sold and distributes free programs at no cost to developers. Customers have downloaded more than 1 billion programs in the past year, according to Apple.

An interesting thread at Google Web Search Help started by "anotherDad" tells the story of how a father was shocked to see a pornographic site come up in the Google search results for a search for his daughter's name. He said:
I recently did a Google search on my daughter's name, and was surprised when one of the URL's returned by the search forwards to a porn site when clicked.
What this father quickly learned was that this site that was showing up had a cached page that contained the honor roll of his daughter's class. That cache page contained his daughter's name on it. What was likely happening was that either the URL was taken over by a spammer and Google has not updated their index yet or the page is being cloaked, in a very bad way.
I love this post because it shows how a normal searcher was shocked by this. Let me share his thoughts, after learning a bit on how Google operates.
I originally thought that the Google crawlers might have made a false association. I now believe that the Google crawler had nothing to do with the bad links. I now believe that the offending links between my daughter's name and the porn site were generated by hackers/pranksters or a perhaps by a dodgy webmaster who is alligned with the porn site.
He then added his two cents for Google:
I have a couple of suggestions for Google. I think it is relatively hard to find the corrent Google help pages and the corrent Google help forum for problems like mine. People like me who are not IT professionals don't have all day to look around every pocket of Google (and there's a lot there) for help. I also think that the "contact us" link is misleading. I think it is unusual for a corporation as big and important as Google not to have some kind of customer service for cases like mine.
This searcher is exactly the type of person Google takes seriously and it is always interesting to read posts by them. Especially when it is so close to home and so important to them.
In the end, Google was wrong - his daughter is not a porn star and the father can somewhat rest a bit easier at night.

Apple Removed the Hottest Girls iPorn App
Apple Removed the Hottest Girls iPorn App
Yesterday the developer of Hottest Girls took full responsibility for its removal from the App Store. Now Apple says the application was removed from the App Store for violating the terms of the iPhone Developer Program.
In a statement to CNN, Apple said that it would not distribute applications that contain inappropriate content and claims ATG added the topless images to the application after a more PG version which only contained women in bikinis had been approved by Apple. Check out the full statement below.
"Apple will not distribute applications that contain inappropriate content, such as pornography. The developer of this application added inappropriate content directly from their server after the application had been approved and distributed, and after the developer had subsequently been asked to remove some offensive content. This was a direct violation of the terms of the iPhone Developer Program. The application is no longer available on the App Store."
Developer ATG has yet to address the statement from Apple and the site today still advertised Hottest Girls as "Sold Out". The homepage of ATG now displays a note that says since Hottest Girls was updated to include topless images, a lot of other applications are claiming to contain porn but hastens to add that this is false advertising.

We noticed that many apps are starting to claim that they have "porn" in their apps, because of the publicity Apple is receiving recently. There is no "porn" in their apps. It is just a marketing scam. Any developer can rate their own apps as 17+ with frequent nudity, even if there is no nudity in their apps. Also, Apple has made it very clear that pornography was not allowed in the App Store. Some developers even write their own 5-star reviews (you can tell because when you click their names, it just contains all 5-star reviews for the apps from the same developer) and have misleading description. The developers we noticed who do this are: MacPhun LLC, McApp, Athletic Model Guild, Small View Media. We do not know why Apple has not done anything about this. The last time we checked, false advertising was illegal in the U.S."

A judge ordered that he be held under a $3 million bond in the death of Sander, an 18-year-old Butler Community College student, who had been missing for several days before a search team found her body along U.S. 54 about 50 miles east of El Dorado.
The disappearance drew nationwide attention after the discovery that she also was an Internet pornography model who went by the name Zoey Zane.
Mireles listened in court as Judge David Ricke read the charges against him: capital murder, rape, and aggravated criminal sodomy in the Nov. 24 death of Sander. Ricke appointed the state's death penalty defense unit to represent Mireles.
Butler County attorney Jan Satterfield argued that the higher bond was necessary partly because Mireles has already fled to Mexico. He was extradited back from Mexico by U.S. Marshals on Thursday, she said.
Authorities allege that Mireles left a bar near El Dorado with Sander and killed her before picking up his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend at her grandmother's house in Baxter Springs and taking her to Mexico. Mexican police arrested him on Dec. 19, 2007.

"I don't know what caused Michael's death, and I don't want to speculate as to what the causes are," Oxmon tells Us Weekly. "I only know that I warned them there was the misuse of prescription medications by people who were enabling him; his handlers, folks who should never have been permitted to allow him to use those medications in the manner I observed." "He had cracked a vertebrae in his back and he took painkillers to try to ease the pain," he says. "And now we find ourselves here. I don't know if the two are connected. I had warned that the misuse of medications would result in this, and I am heartbroken that we are here."
TMZ is reporting that Michael was given a heavy dose of morphine prior to his death, which may have caused him to overdose on the medication. Meanwhile, the UK Sun claims he overdosed on Demerol, a drug similar to morphine.
An autopsy is scheduled Friday afternoon, but the results won't be available until next week. Los Angeles County Coroner Investigator Jerry McKibben said if a cause can be determined by the autopsy, they will announce the results.
Fans continue to mourn for the loss of one of the biggest entertainers in the world. Thousands of fans have bombarded Michael's star on Hollywood Blvd leaving notes, gifts and flowers. Such a tragic loss!

L.A. coroner's office says toxicology tests could take six to eight weeks.
Contrary to earlier reports, the Los Angles coroner's office announced that it is unlikely that results from Michael Jackson's autopsy will be released on Friday, according to CNN.
The autopsy is already underway, TMZ reported, but a final verdict will not be available for six to eight weeks, when results of toxicology tests are confirmed.
"The likelihood is very slim that we will have any results to release today because of the extensive [tests] that we're going to be performing," Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said at a press conference. "We will be performing toxicology tests and an extensive exam, and it could take up to six to eight weeks before we will have the final results from the onset, from last night."

Contrary to earlier reports, the Los Angles coroner's office announced that it is unlikely that results from Michael Jackson's autopsy will be released on Friday, according to CNN.
The autopsy is already underway, TMZ reported, but a final verdict will not be available for six to eight weeks, when results of toxicology tests are confirmed.
"The likelihood is very slim that we will have any results to release today because of the extensive [tests] that we're going to be performing," Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said at a press conference. "We will be performing toxicology tests and an extensive exam, and it could take up to six to eight weeks before we will have the final results from the onset, from last night."

The cause of his death was unknown. His spokesman denied reports he had cancer just last month, asserting Jacko "is in the best of health."
The bizarre, scandal-plagued "Thriller" star had been trying to make a comeback in recent months.
He had 50 sold-out concerts planned for London later this summer. His death capped a life of superstardom and scandal. The music legend burst onto the pop scene as a child star with the Jackson 5 nearly four decades ago.
Once a sure-fire hit machine, he still holds the record for the biggest-selling album with "Thriller." He also wowed fans with monster hits like "Billie Jean" and "Rock With You."

Michael Jackson died Thursday after being rushed unconscious and not breathing to a Los Angeles hospital, the Los Angeles Times and TMZ reported.
Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times that paramedics responded to a 911 call at 12:26 p.m. Jackson, 50, was not breathing when they arrived.
The parademics performed CPR on the way to the hospital, the paper said. A member of the Jackson family said his brothers and mother were on their way to see him. "[He's in] really bad shape," a family member told TMZ.
The cause of his death was unknown. His spokesman denied reports he had cancer just last month, asserting Jacko "is in the best of health."
The bizarre, scandal-plagued "Thriller" star had been trying to make a comeback in recent months.
He had 50 sold-out concerts planned for London later this summer. His death capped a life of superstardom and scandal. The music legend burst onto the pop scene as a child star with the Jackson 5 nearly four decades ago.
Once a sure-fire hit machine, he still holds the record for the biggest-selling album with "Thriller." He also wowed fans with monster hits like "Billie Jean" and "Rock With You."
Millions of fans imitated his famed moonwalk dance and he was known worldwide as the Gloved One for his trademark handwear. But personal and professional woes have eclipsed his talent for years.
He was acquitted in 2005 of molesting a young fan at his Neverland Ranch and caused an uproar by dangling one of his three children out of a Berlin hotel window in 2002. His latest recordings suffered from tepid sales and a rumored comeback album never materialized.
Jackson's first wife was Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis, whom he married in 1994. It was a match made in showbiz heaven but they split less than two years later. He later married Australian Debbie Rowe and they had two children, Prince, 12 and Paris, 11.

But quicker than you can say, "Steve Jobs just has an 'easily treated hormonal imbalance,'" it turned out that they hadn't. Why has Apple, a company which banned an e-book application from the same store because it could be used to download the Kama Sutra, suddenly started selling smut? Because the 3.0 iPhone software update now allows age restrictions for applications. Also, when I downloaded the application to test it, a new alert popped up asking me if I am over 17. I said yes.
The application itself is terrible. Four photos are shown on screen at once and tapping one will pull a full sized version from the server. From here you can look at it or save it to your photo-roll. There is no slideshow to display a progressive striptease of the same model, so you are limited to one picture at a time before you have to navigate back to the main screen, which shows a lack of understanding as to how a porn app should work. You could of course just use the application for downloading and view the pictures later in the Photos application.
You can, however, pick a category. On offer are Popular, Asian, Blonde, Brunette and Swimsuit. This is a little less specialized than what you will find on most porn sites, and it is also distinctly softcore: while there are nipples to be seen, that's about it. A smartly-worded Google image search would do better if you're looking for titillation.
The most interesting part is the social media aspect, or at least a crowd-sourcing one. When you view a picture full-size you are asked to rate it as either good or bad. Supposedly these ratings will steer future updates, which will be free and pushed directly to buyers.

"Housewives" star Danielle Staub blocked her ex-boyfriend from releasing an X-rated video of her Wednesday, even as another uproar over her unsavory past percolated.
A judge granted a temporary injunction against Stephen Zalewski after the New Jersey girl said she didn't know he taped their sexcapades until she read it in a magazine. "It sickened me," Staub told the judge during a hearing.
Staub, 46, the lightning rod on Bravo's "Real Housewives of New Jersey," claimed Zalewski, 27, was trying to get revenge because she dumped him.
"This is about my kids," the mother of two said of her suit against Zalewski. "I'm a big girl. Do what you want to me. But you broke bread with my children .... No adult should ever do this to a child."
Zalewski, who briefly appeared on the show, was not in court and did not return calls for comment.
Staub's courthouse victory may have been tempered by the latest revelations about her criminal record.
TheSmokingGun obtained documents that suggest Staub seriously downplayed her 1986 arrest - a major story line during the first season and a hot topic on tonight's 9 p.m. reunion show.
On the show's June 16 finale, Staub insisted there were only two true facts about her in the 1995 book "Cop Without a Badge," penned by her ex-husband: She changed her name and she was once arrested.
The court papers show Staub - whose name was Beverly Ann Merrill back then - and then-boyfriend Daniel Aguilar were arrested in June 1986 in a kidnapping plot stemming from a cocaine deal gone bad.
She and Aguilar, a dealer for a Colombian drug family, were nabbed for allegedly holding a man for $24,000 ransom.
Staub insisted on-air that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but the papers state she called the kidnapped man's father and "threatened injury or death" if she didn't get the money. When she was arrested in Miami, 6 kilos of cocaine and $16,000 in cash also were found.
The papers also say Merrill - who copped a plea to extortion charges and was sentenced to drug treatment - "worked for an escort service."
Staub's lawyer declined to comment on the documents.Bravo said it didn't know about her past when it cast her on the show.
"We did not know about her past - the book or the allegations - when we cast her," said Bravo spokeswoman Cameron Blanchard, senior vice president of Bravo communications.
"Things only started to come to light during the taping of the show. There are background checks, but they are less extensive for a docudrama, where the subjects don't live together, than for a competition show, where everyone is in one house."
"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" has been the most successful installment in the franchise and is likely to be picked up, leaving wide open the question of Staub's future on the show.

Roadies Season five contestant, Tamanna, is now right in the middle of a storm that threatens to destroy her reputation and life off-screen.
A Mumbai tabloid has recently claimed that they're in possession of a 'clip' that features Tamanna indulging in sexually explicit activities. The paper is also claiming the clip is a rage and that it's doing its rounds in Mumbai.
The Roadies star has however slammed the reports. In an interview with the publication, Tamanna lashed out at the reporter responsible for the story and accused the individual of spreading wild rumours.
"How dare you people do this to me. If I will give out your number to the police you will come to know of the consequences. But I don't want to do such things. Faltu ki cheezen ho," raged the TV star.
She also accused fellow Roadies 5.0 contestant Palak (with whom she never got along on the show) of conspiring against her and spreading lies about the sex tape!
"If you surf the web you will find a sex clip of Bobby (another contestant) too. And why not Palak? She is such a famous s**t. Her sex-clip is famous in Chandigarh," argued Tamanna.

Weeds Episode 3 Season 5: Su-Su-Sucio (Spoiler Alert)
It's that time of week again... the time when I curl up on the couch with a big glass of red wine and watch Weeds with the anxiousness of a stoner about to get a big bag of hydro (or whatever is popular now).
The episode begins with a staring contest between Nancy and Cesar as she eats (what I can only imagine to be a pregnancy craving) a hardboiled egg with mustard and salt. The barking doorbell rings and Cesar's replacement, stinky Sucio, comes in to relieve Cesar from his post as Nancy's guardian. Later, Andy comes home from Jill Price-Gray's house to be greeted by Sucio's gun to his head. In typical Botwin fashion, Andy makes jokes about how Sucio is a Phil Collins song (Su-Su-Sucio).
Nancy makes an emergency trip to the gynecologist after experiencing some bleeding due to stress. The baby is fine but Esteban orders her to relax, threatening that if she doesn't there will be consequences. There's nothing like a powerful Mexican drug lord demanding rest and relaxation that puts a person quite at ease, is there? Silas returns from his failed trip to find a grow field with a new business plan. Silas plans to go into the business of medical marijuana with Doug, and Nancy agrees to help fund it as long as Silas promises to not to let Doug near the inventory. In exchange for a flat monthly cut of the billing from their medical marijuana dispensary Silas and Doug receive the signature of a law enforcement official on their retail application.Shane returns with Jill after he threatens to show her husband, Scott, the video he took of her having sex with Andy. Now that the family is back together they settle in for a family dinner, and Sucio seems to be settling into a domestic life as Nancy's guardian as well. Celia continues to play the role of "helpful" terrorist to her former captor in Mexico, but since Celia has is a controlling, Type A she ends up nitpicking his ransom note and undermining his authority in front of one of his combatants. Her antics land her on a bus at the Texas border; rejected by even a criminal. The episode ends with Nancy forcing Sucio to bath in the outdoor shower only to find him missing with a trail of blood. Nancy gathers the family thinking that Guillermo has sent for Sucio to be murdered and begins to flee for her and her family's safety. Esteban assures her that it could not have been a set up by Guillermo and Nancy requests Cesar to return to his post.

Now, after a bad breakup, he says, due in part to her always borrowing money from him. "She tries to look affluent," he says. "But sometimes she couldn't pay the household bills or buy food. Even then, she'd want to borrow 20 grand from me to buy jewelry!"
"She cost me so much money, why shouldn't I make a few dollars?" According to Star, her goal is to appear in Playboy, so the sex tape could only further her career.
So does everyone have to have a sex tape to get attention or for extra cash? There's even a whole website devoted to the subject of celebrity sex tapes for sale.

Internet reports suggested the clip, a 13-second film modified to look like a night vision video similar to Paris Hilton's infamous sex tape.
A news website reported it was not Rihanna in the clip, but lookalike porn star Lavish Styles.
