Michael Jackson Autopsy Results Expected Today
As vigils are organized around the world, the circumstances of Jackson's death remain a mystery.

After Michael Jackson's death on Thursday, an autopsy has been scheduled for Friday (June 26), reports CNN. The results are expected by the afternoon, the Los Angeles coroner's office said.

But the coroner's office also told the Chicago Tribune that the exact cause of death may not be determined for six to eight weeks, depending on the tests that are ordered. The Tribune report added that toxicology tests can take several weeks to complete.

The exact circumstances surrounding Jackson's death continue to remain unclear. Jackson's brother Marlon told CNN that Michael was not feeling well Wednesday night, and a doctor was called to his home in Holmby Hills. On Thursday, he reportedly collapsed and suffered cardiac arrest. A doctor present at the time of the incident performed CPR on the singer but could not revive him. He was not breathing and had no pulse when paramedics arrived after a 911 call around 12:26 p.m. PT. They administered CPR and took Jackson via ambulance to UCLA Medical Center but were unable to revive him.

Jackson family attorney Brian Oxman speculated to CBS that the singer's death might be related to the abuse of prescription medication.

"I have warned of the use of prescription medication and people who have enabled the use of those medications," Oxman said. "I do not know how much he has taken, I don't know what his current situation is in the last couple of weeks. Over the last several years I have said to family members that he is overmedicated."

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery Homicide division told Reuters that they searched Jackson's home in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, but they called the investigation into Jackson's death an "everyday" event. According to the Chicago Tribune, the police were seen pulling a vehicle from a driveway, possibly for further examination at a police facility.

Among the many events being organized to remember Jackson, a vigil has been set up for Friday evening at Leimert Park in Los Angeles. Also, Jackson will be paid tribute at Dodgers Stadium on Friday. After the Dodgers-Seattle Mariner game, Jackson's music will be played during a fireworks presentation. Dodgers stadium is the place where Jackson and his brothers performed the final six concerts of their Victory tour in 1984. On Thursday, Jackson's star on Hollywood Walk of Fame had been covered by a red carpet where the "Brüno premiere was supposed to take place, but that space has now been cleared so that fans can place flowers on the star.
