Iphone porn app frenzy causes server crash

Frenzied demand for an adult-oriented iPhone application has reportedly caused a massive server collapse.

"The Hottest Girls app is temporarily sold out. The server usage is extremely high because of the popularity of this app," explained a developer in an official blog post. "Thus, by not distributing the app, we can prevent our servers from crashing. Those who already have the app will still be able to use our app. To answer the question on everyone's mind: Yes, the topless images will still be there when it is sold again."

The Hottest Girls - first introduced in May 2009 - quickly rose to fame as the most popular "bikini girl in the app store." However, the latest iteration of the application reportedly offers access to 2,200 images of women in advanced stages of undress.

Apple Iphone

It should be noted that Apple recently approved the sale of a controversial Nine Inch Nails app, after initially rejecting it due to "objectionable content" linked to "The Downward Spiral" song. Club Cupertino may have been pressured into reversing its decision after an outraged Trent Reznor criticized Apple's stringent policies on the Nine Inch Nail website.

"The Downward Spiral (album) is not available anywhere in the iPhone app. The song 'The Downward Spiral' I believe is in a podcast that can be streamed to the app. Thanks Apple for the clear description of the problem - as in, what do you want us to change to get past your stupid f****** standards?" Reznor wrote in a forum post on May 3. "You can buy The Downward Spiral on iTunes, but you can't allow an iPhone app that may have a song with a bad word somewhere in it. Come on Apple, think your policies through and for f***'s sake get your app approval scenario together."
